Barreled Ceiling Installation in Greenville

When a couple approached us about renovating their ADU with 10 foot ceilings, they wanted to make the ceilings a standout feature. Our Project Estimator at Home & Happy suggested a barreled ceiling installation, similar to one he had previously done for a wine cellar renovation. They loved the idea! We began by installing the spines, made of 2x6s, set at 8’6″ and 6 feet apart. These spines were set with a laser for precision. Next, we added the ribs every 20 inches, cut from 8×4 plywood to form the arches. After wiring in the recessed lighting, we used 3×8 cedar planks for a clean finish. These planks were left in the room for 7 days to acclimatize before being primed on both sides to prevent any bowing or twisting. Each plank was then glued and brad nailed to the rib. The entire installation required 4,000 brad nails, 9 tubes of construction adhesive, and 11 gallons of primer! We’re excited to see the finished room as we’re handling the entire renovation.
